The University of Wisconsin Stone Program (UWSP) provides patients and physicians in Wisconsin and surrounding states with a comprehensive resource for treating all aspects of kidney stone disease.

Established in 1995 by Drs. Stephen Nakada, Richard Rieselbach, and Thomas Steele, the UWSP draws on the expertise of physicians from multiple specialty areas, including urologic surgery, nephrology, nutritional therapy, and interventional radiology.

Dr. Nakada and his urology colleagues emphasize noninvasive or minimally invasive treatment of all complex stone problems. The UWSP also provides full metabolic stone evaluation; a complete preventive stone management plan is available for patients who qualify. In addition, several nationally recognized research programs are carried out at the UWSP.
