Dr. Vernez is currently a first year resident in the department of surgery. Originally from Los Angeles, California, Simone graduated with a degree in International Relations from Stanford University in 2010. She subsequently conducted research at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics where she also served on the Stanford Hospital Ethics Committee and clinical ethics consultation service.After enrolling in University of California, Irvine School of Medicine in 2012, Simone completed the Leadership and Innovation Fellowship Training program during which time she obtained grant funding for and conducted both basic science and clinical research with the Department of Urology at University of California, Irvine. She was awarded the Meysken’s Family Medical Research Award for graduating senior medical students demonstrating high potential for a career in clinical research in any discipline. After completing a year of training in the general surgery department here at University of Wisconsin, Simone will join the department of Urology where she will complete the remainder of her training in Urology.
