UW-Madison receives $8.3 million from NIH for new urological research center

The National Institutes of Health awarded UW-Madison $8.3 million to create a research center focused on urological health. The George O’Brien Center will be led by William Ricke, PhD, of the Department of Urology, and Dale Bjorling, DVM, of the School of Veterinary Medicine. The center is only one of three in the nation to focus on benign urologic disease research, including conditions such as lower urinary tract dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia. The center is a collaborative effort between several departments within UW-Madison and the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
